How to use these calculators well
Keep every number on the same basis. If your selling price excludes GST, your cost should exclude input GST too. Mixing a tax-inclusive price with a tax-exclusive cost is the most common reason a margin looks better than it really is.
Use real numbers from your own records. Last month's bills, purchase invoices and appointment calendar give far better answers than guesses. vkRetA keeps those records for you, so the inputs for these calculators are already in your workspace.

From calculator to everyday billing
A calculator answers one question at a time. In vkRetA the same arithmetic runs on every bill: GST is calculated per line with the CGST and SGST or IGST split, coupons are checked against their rules, and stock and customer history update with each sale. The Free plan includes GST invoices, inventory, online orders, appointments, coupons and customer records for up to 25 products and services.
Frequently asked questions
Are these calculators free to use?
Yes. All five calculators are free, need no sign-up and run in your browser. The values you enter are not submitted or stored.
How do I calculate GST on a price that already includes GST?
Divide the price by 1 plus the rate. For 18%, divide by 1.18: a ₹1,180 price has a taxable value of ₹1,000 and GST of ₹180.
When is GST split into CGST and SGST, and when is it IGST?
Generally, a sale within your own state is split equally between CGST and SGST, and a sale to another state carries IGST. Confirm the place of supply for your transactions with a qualified adviser.
Does the GST calculator tell me the correct GST rate?
No. Select the rate that applies to the item or service and obtain professional advice where necessary.
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin divides profit by the selling price; markup divides profit by the cost. A ₹600 item sold for ₹1,000 has a 40% margin and a 66.67% markup.
Why do two discounts not add up?
The second discount applies to the already reduced price. 20% off and then 10% off leaves 80% × 90% = 72% of the original price, a 28% total discount.
What counts as a fixed cost for break-even?
Costs you pay each month regardless of sales, such as rent, salaries, electricity, internet and software subscriptions. Materials, packaging and delivery that rise with each sale are variable costs.
Does the appointment calculator reserve slots?
No. It is a planning estimate and does not change any calendar. In vkRetA, real availability is checked against working hours, eligible staff and existing bookings.
